A British environmentalist has become the first woman to row across the Pacific Ocean on her own. A journey of 13,000- kilometer that almost took her life. A big crowd came to welcome Roz Savage, 42 and her 7 meter boat on Friday. Savage had crossed the Atlantic Ocean before, at that time it took her 103 days. Her was meant to make people aware of climate change and plastic polluting the ocean. Savage biggest health concern was a heat rash. During her trip her hook was separated from the boat and she tried to swim after it. When she got in the water the hook had drifted far away. She officially arrived Thursday evening but she could dock right away because she had to clear custom the next day.
Personal Opinion
I think this is an amazing way to make people aware of climate changes and other environmental problems. I also think it didn’t really help. People are more amazed about what she did, instead of why she did it. I think it is a bit pointless, instead of rowing and doing nothing else for 250 why not doing something that can help immediately to fight against climate change and pollution. I would never sail across the ocean on my own. I would be afraid of pirates or of drowning. I am really interested in how she felt during her trip.
